Product Description

Platform: Windows 98 / Me / 95, Macintosh Maurice Sendak's Little Bear is the main character in six simple, generally fun activities that emphasize memory and creativity. From the beautifully illustrated main screen, children click on various items to launch each activity. These consist of jigsaw puzzles, concentration, a paint-a-picture game, a simple dress up activity, cooking (our favorite) and sticker pictures. In the cooking activity, children first click on eggs, butter and other ingredients in a large bowl. This mixture somehow becomes four large cookies, which can then be decorated with a variety of sprinkles and then printed out. It is also possible for children to print out a variety of coloring pages. While children love all of this printing activity, your Inkjet printer might not. We would have liked some ability to either limit or deactivate these options for print-happy preschoolers. Overall, there's not as much content found in this program in comparison to others of the same price, and it is lacking smart features like auto-leveling and record keeping. However, children will find the activities easy to use and enjoyable. Teaches: memory, logic, patterns, sequencing, creativity Age Range: 3, 4, 5, 6 Copyright ?2000 Children's Software Revue

Amazon.com Review Your child will look forward to winter's wet afternoons with Little Bear Rainy Day Activities to keep them occupied. With more than one hundred fun games and projects, there's plenty to keep them busy for hours at a time. With the clear, enjoyable graphics and gentle voices of the television show, Little Bear is the perfect companion for those blustery days. Together, Little Bear and your child can play dress up, solve puzzles, decorate scenes, and bake pretend cookies. There's more than forty printable activities, including cards, pictures, and puzzles--enough to combine with your child's art-supply box. Nearly all the activities have memory skills as their educational focus, and there's lots of picture-matching games where no reading is required, making them especially fun for preschoolers. Older children will enjoy the sticker stories, where they can decorate scenes with the appropriate characters and accessories. No matter what their age, children will love spending the day at Little Bear's house, and with so many activities to encourage their creativity, you'll love it too. --Jill Lightner
